99 Nights in the Forest | The Frog Invasion

Updated: April 4, 2026  ·  Reading time: ~3 min

The Frog Invasion Update:

I don’t think anyone had “frog invasion” on their bingo card for the next 99 Nights update. Out of all the possible mobs they could’ve added, they went with frogs, which makes this both hilarious and super confusing. Let’s break it down one at a time:

The Basics

  • The teaser said: “There are more than just fish in the ponds. When you least expect it, they’ll reveal themselves.”
  • That means frogs are tied to ponds (obviously), but the wording makes it sound like they’re going to have a stealth/surprise element.
  • Could be passive like bunnies or hostile in swarms. “Invasion” is the keyword here.

Mechanics

  • Spawning:

    • Most likely around ponds.

    • Maybe lily pads finally get added (if they don’t, I swear).

    • Could have dens/nests like rabbits, or just pop up at night in groups.

  • Drops & Crafting:

    • Frog legs → new food source.

    • Poison glands → craftable traps, maybe even poison arrows if bows come later.

    • Frogskin armor → camo effect, maybe wolves or other mobs don’t notice you as fast.

  • Invasion Aspect:

    • Frogs could swarm camps at night in waves.

    • They might eat food left at your fire, sabotaging survival.

    • Worst-case scenario: they become the new “annoying mob” everyone hates.

Event Before the Update

  • 20 free gems (diamonds? still confused on naming).
  • “Silly events” in party servers + gem rain.
  • Concern: limited server slots → some people might not get in.
  • Still, free premium currency is free premium currency.

Bigger Picture

  • The last “fishing update” started small but turned into a huge content drop with structures, badges, and pursuits.
  • So even if this just says “frog invasion,” it could be part of something bigger:
    • A water ecosystem update.

    • More mobs tied to ponds/lakes.

    • Maybe even a giant toad boss or summonable water creature teased later.
